Asking your first Question

Typically, information such as the following should be in your first question, where applicable:

  • Relevant hardware details (e.g. with a question related to RAM problems, it would be helpful to know the make and model of both your RAM and motherboard - the colour of your keyboard probably isn't needed!),
  • Windows operating system version / service pack level (right-click My Computer>Properties),
  • Relevant application names and versions,
  • An indication of your goal and the problem ("I'm trying to connect A to B, but B keeps exploding"),
  • If explaining a problem is difficult, post a screenshot of the error to help (press the 'print screen' key on your keyboard, 'paste' into an image editing program, save the file, then upload the file to an image hosting site, like Imageshack, then post a link to the uploaded image in your question),
  • And some information regarding what you've already tried, and if at all possible, your level of knowledge in the area.
